The latest Li Auto L9 brings a highly advanced 800-volt active suspension system that can independently raise any corner of the vehicle, delivering more than 10,000 newtons of force per wheel. This means drivers can effectively change a tire without needing a traditional jack. The setup blends air suspension with hydraulic actuators and reacts to road conditions in about 10 milliseconds, using AI to adjust damping and vehicle posture before bumps are even felt.
Unlike conventional systems, it eliminates standard anti-roll bars, since each wheel operates independently. This reduces body roll by around 24% compared to earlier designs while allowing the SUV to raise, lower, or tilt itself as needed. Priced at roughly $80,000 in China, the L9 sits firmly in the premium SUV segment alongside models like the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE—though neither competitor offers a suspension system that effectively doubles as built-in roadside assistance.
