Italian authorities have officially banned planned performances by Kanye West and Travis Scott, citing serious public safety and security concerns ahead of their scheduled appearances this summer.
The two artists were set to headline the Pulse of Gaia Festival on consecutive nights in July at the massive RCF Arena, a venue capable of holding more than 100,000 spectators.
Officials in Reggio Emilia ordered the immediate cancellation after receiving formal requests from consumer advocacy group CODACONS and local Jewish community leaders. Authorities warned that the expected influx of fans within a 24-hour period could create major crowd-control and security challenges.
The decision was also influenced by concerns over potential protests and counter-demonstrations linked to West, who has faced widespread backlash in recent years over antisemitic, racist, and pro-Nazi comments. Several European countries have already seen planned appearances by the rapper canceled or blocked amid ongoing controversy.
Security officials additionally reviewed Scottโs participation due to continuing concerns surrounding concert safety following the deadly Astroworld Festival crowd crush. While the objections focused more heavily on West, authorities concluded that both events posed significant logistical and public-order risks.
The cancellation marks another setback for Westโs European tour plans and adds Italy to the growing list of countries where his performances have faced major restrictions or cancellations. Ticket holders are expected to receive refund instructions through official ticketing platforms in the coming days.
